ATLAS SENSÍVEL
SANGUE VERDE
This series takes the form of an experimental herbarium composed of 72 photographs and drawings created in collaboration with several women Mestras from the Paraíba region. Developed through plant gathering, acts of knowledge transmission, and exchanges surrounding the therapeutic uses of plants, the project explores the relationships between plant memory, healing, and territory.
Each image brings together botanical fragments, imprints, colored materials, and photographic traces. The plants appear not as scientific specimens to be classified, but as living presences carrying knowledge, stories, and invisible forces. Some are closely connected to healing practices and Indigenous cosmologies of Brazil’s Northeast.
Through a form akin to a sensory archive, the herbarium becomes a space of encounter between photography, material experimentation, and oral transmission.
Across these 72 images, the project pays tribute to the women Mestras who preserve and pass on this knowledge despite the cultural, social, and environmental erasures that threaten these living heritages.
